about
Teeth is about surviving your own madness & surviving yourself. (And being kinda stunned when your partner manages to survive you too! Hah.)
It’s written from the perspective of someone who knows they are loved but can’t love themselves. It’s about the emotional struggle of mental illness in a long-term, loving relationship and the utter isolation felt when you realise you’ve finally pushed away those who have consistently tried to save you and there’s no-one left to kick down the bathroom door when you need them.
lyrics
TEETH
I called you to this place
So you could watch me fade
I finally got so crazy
Not even you could save me
You wanna see which one of us
Is the maddest dog, in a fight?
I’ll take you out, I’ll take you out
In to the woods, woods tonight
You wanna see which one of us
Is the maddest dog, in a fight?
I’ll take you out, I’ll take you out
In to the woods, woods tonight
I’ve got my teeth and you’ve got the knife
I wanted a good man,
As selfless as I’m selfish
I could fake a heartbeat
You could grant a death wish
You wanna see which one of us
Is the maddest dog, in a fight?
I’ll take you out, I’ll take you out
In to the woods, woods tonight
You wanna see which one of us
Is the maddest dog, in a fight?
I’ll take you out, I’ll take you out
In to the woods, woods tonight
Watching you breathe
Here in the dark
I can’t fall asleep
I just fall apart
Watching you breathe
Here in the dark
I cant fall asleep
I just fall apart
I just fall apart x3

In Lux Lyall’s dark and decadent world, little is as it appears. Theatrical songs steeped in sumptuous strings owe a debt to
old-school Hollywood, but have their roots in Camden’s gritty rock haunts. Lyrics littered with nods to film noir spring from modern-day issues including mental health. Even the femme fatales come with a twist – they always win the day.
